Reflection:
Why did you choose the final idea (compare it to the other ideas you came up with and why this is the best one)
I chose this as my final idea because it's accessible to me and it wouldn't be that hard to film it. The other idea I had was about a mobile game and I would be copying another person's work if I just screen record myself playing the game.
How does your idea fit with what you have learnt so far about documentaries? How will it use the skills you have developed?

What are the strengths of your idea (what is good about it eg topic is interest/ relevant to TA, practical details, easy to use documentary conventions, very visual etc)

What are the weakness of your idea (what might be tricky/ problematic)
The weakness of my idea is that the show will be on may 25 and we might not be recording until then and I might have to work backwards.
What have you learnt through feedback and how will you adapt your idea in relation to this feedback.

Project title:
Rhythm Unveiled: A Journey Through Dance
Rationale:
Before embarking on this unit, my understanding of media was limited; I anticipated it would involve merely capturing arbitrary videos. However, the journey throughout this course has been enlightening. I've acquired essential skills in proper filming techniques, microphone usage and setup, camera placement, lighting strategies tailored for documentaries, and more. While my progress wasn't without its challenges, particularly in the initial stages when I grappled with unfamiliar concepts, I persevered, giving my best effort. The culmination of this learning journey has equipped me with invaluable knowledge, empowering me to confidently approach my final project—an upcoming documentary on dancing.
Project Concept:
The concept of my project revolves around producing a documentary that explores the multifaceted world of dance, emphasizing its cultural significance, personal stories, and artistic expression, with a particular focus on mastering sound editing, lighting, and colour grading to ensure a clear, crisp, and visually stunning final product. The aim is to not only showcase the beauty of dance but also to highlight the technical aspects of post-production that contribute to the overall quality of the film. To achieve these aims, I intend to dedicate significant time to researching sound editing techniques, such as noise reduction, equalization, and spatial effects, to enhance the clarity and depth of the audio. Additionally, I will explore lighting principles and colour grading methods to create visually captivating scenes that complement the mood and narrative of the documentary. Through hands-on practice and experimentation with various editing software and tools, I aim to gain proficiency in these technical skills. By evidencing consideration of ethical and technical considerations throughout the process, I anticipate producing a documentary that not only educates viewers about the art of dance but also demonstrates mastery in sound editing, lighting, and color grading.
Evaluation:
To assess my progress, I'll capture screenshots of my current work and any modifications I've implemented, accompanied by written reflections. Additionally, I'll detail my decision-making process and document alterations to my ideas as the project evolves. The evaluation will be reflective and analytical, referencing my stated aims to gauge alignment and effectiveness, rather than merely describing completed actions.
